World Cup Dinner with Sir Ian McGeechan & John Bentley
Join us for a 3-course dinner followed by an evening of fantastic entertainment from two iconic British and Irish Lions.
Sir Ian McGeechan is regarded as an icon of Rugby Union, as a player he represented Scotland and the Lions at Flyhalf before moving on to a coaching career where he won a Grand Slam with Scotland and established himself as the most successful British & Irish Lions coach of all time.
In 2012 he was appointed Executive Chairman of Yorkshire Carnegie and was honoured with an OBE in 1990 and a Knighthood in 2010.
John Bentley is famed for his part in taming the South Africans on the 1997 Lions tour, playing on the wing under Sir Ian’s coaching, and for playing a starring role in the now infamous ‘Living with Lions’ documentary video of that tour.
With an extremely humorous approach, John will recall his time playing under Sir Ian and question him on his unsurpassed wealth of knowledge in the game, which will captivate guests with insightful, inspiring and hilarious stories from their illustrious careers, before sharing their views on the upcoming Rugby World Cup in Japan, for which Sir Ian has been selected as an expert pundit by ITV.
This will be a fantastic evening for rugby lovers and non-rugby lovers alike.
